Outdoor Furniture Covers and Other Deployable Wildfire Measures

So, let's think abut this for a moment... In the unfortunate event of a nearby wildfire, in all liklihood we'd expect some warning before having to evacuate. In a worse case scenario, maybe there is little to no warning, a 50 mph Diablo wind pushing a wall of flame over a ridge toward our neighborhood. Unless the fire breaks out in our immediate neighborhood probably some warning will be given. So, what could we do in that interim... to button down our homes as much as possible? It's gotten me thinking about different types of what I'm terming Deployable Hardening Systems (DHS).

Let's assume many of you have homes at least somewhat like ours, with certain inherent ignition vulnerabilities. In our case today I'm focusing on our redwood decking and cedar shake siding. We have several pieces of outdoor furniture on our deck as well, with large cushions, an umbrella and dining sets, and two storage bins against the side of the house, also on the deck. All those represent vectors for fire to transmit to your house!

I would like tarps or furniture covers for these pieces that I could throw over each piece and secure. On the deck itself, for the join area between my cedar siding and the first redwood plank, where embers could gather, I would like to be able to deploy a screen, sor of like a temporary flashing I could quickly install in sections in the event of a fire. Or curtins that could be hung from installed hooks to ember

proof under deck areas.

The applications are many but the first and most obvious is flame resistant furniture coverings that could be deployed quickly and cinched securely around your main deck and patio pieces. They would be easily stored and accessible quickly in the event of an emergency.
